Easter Egg Hunt 2013

This was our other organized Easter egg hunt.  It was put on by the Parks and Rec Department and we go every year.  This year was by far the nicest weather we've had.  It was fairly warm, the sun was out and there was NO WIND.  Amazing!
Here we are ready to line up and wait for the signal.  There was a good turnout and I was worried the kids wouldn't be getting many eggs.  You remember last year?  When Abby ended up with 2 eggs.  And I think Brooklyn only got a few more than that.  And we had a cry fest.  Well, I prepped them both this year letting them know that we would go and have fun and wouldn't cry about how many eggs we got.  So that's what we were ready for.

Here's Brooklyn at the signal.  I was with her, Darren was with the boys, and Abby was on her own.  So I really only got pictures of Brooklyn in action.

Just look for the red coat.  It was very convenient to keep track of her by!

Here's Abby.  I got this picture of her when Brooklyn was done and Abby was just going back over her  course one final time to make sure the hundreds of kids hadn't missed an egg.  Which they hadn't.

And looky!  We ended up with a basket of eggs!!  I think both girls ended up with 9.  They were desperate to find the Golden Egg but it has eluded us year after year:)

Darren and the boys.  Apparently Jace still wasn't all that into the egg hunt.  Instead of getting after it and gathering eggs fast, he would spot one, walk up to it, and ask Darren if he could pick it up.
He still managed to get his basket full.

Colby picked up all the discarded eggs looking for candy.  When there was nothing in it he threw to the side and went after the next one.
Afterwards we stuck around for the dance party!  Here the girls are doing the Bunny Hop.  For every dance you participated in you got put in a drawing for prizes.  And guess who won the very first prize??  Our very own Brooklyn!!  Woo hoo!

She won a soccer ball.  It was awesome.  And it gave Colby something to do while we waited for the fun to end.
And guess who won the very next prize??  None other than Jace!! He won 5 swim passes to the pool this summer!  Right on!  I couldn't believe how lucky we were.  That's when the pressure was on for Abby to win.  But she didn't.
Until the end that is.  And then she won swim passes too.  What a great Easter!!

We got plenty of dirty looks from those around us.  You know, everyone hates a winner if it makes them a loser!
We didn't really mind.  We were too busy celebrating our good fortune:)
And here they all are. The big winners of the dance party.  Jace is just beside himself to get his goggles on and go swimming.  I told him it would be a while.  The good news is that the soccer ball is getting plenty of use already!

Easter Egg Hunt

Happy Easter!  Because I have been neglecting my blog I'm just warning you that you are about to be bombarded with Easter.  And I'm talking everything Easter!  We had several Easter Egg Hunts and this was our first.  We got together with some other families to have a hunt and to eat dinner.  We decided to first hide eggs for the two littlest - Colby and Presley.
This is the picture of Abby helping Colby collect his eggs.  Let's be honest.  He had no idea what was going on and really didn't care to pick up any eggs.  Actually he spent the first 45 minutes finding and opening eggs before his hunt started so this was all old news.  And he was pretty quick about figuring out the candy thing.  It didn't bother him at all that the Reese's had tin foil on them.  If he couldn't get the candy completely unwrapped he just bit right through it all.

Here he is making trouble.  This was where he kept finding the older kids' eggs that he wasn't supposed to be into.  He also would not stay off that wooden staircase and 2 days later I finally noticed a huge, pussy, sliver in his finger.  Luckily, slivers are my specialty;)  He's healing up real nicely.

The group of kids waiting for the signal - we have a  few peekers...

Abby and Brooklyn both got right after it.  We had told all the kids before that they each got 15 eggs and then they had to stop looking for eggs until everyone had their 15.  Then they got to find the rest (which wasn't many). That way it was fair for the little ones.

Abby found some of the more difficult ones to get.

It took Brooklyn a while to find her final egg but she finally found it hiding under a leaf.

Jace wasn't all that excited about this egg hunt.  Part of it had to do with the fact that he decided  not to wear his socks.  He just put on his cowboy boots when we left the house (unbeknownst to me).  And then ran around playing chase with the other kids for an hour before the egg hunt.  And when the egg hunt started he realized he had a big blister on his foot and it hurt really bad.  So this is what we got for most of the egg hunt from Jace.

But, after we took his boots off and Darren carried him around helping him find eggs, he cheered up a bit.

After our egg hunt we ate dinner and tried to keep Colby out of everyone's eggs! The kids had a great time and everyone got plenty of sugar!
